The panther sleeps peacefully in the ancient land, gathering its power...
The painting "Panther In The Hillside" evolved from sketch of a beautiful black panther I met during a shamanic journey. In shamanic tradition, the panther is a symbol of deep feminine energy, the moon, secrets of worlds that are unseen and the reclaiming of one's own power.
I worked from sketches of the beautiful Cockmarsh side of Winter Hill where there are Bronze Age burial mounds in the ground and a primeval magic in the air. Cat friends were sleepy models to helping me to study feline curves. The painting was created by applying layers of thick, vibrant oil paints with a palette knife. Panther In The Hillside, original oil on canvas and limited edition prints.
